High Frequency Word of The Quran #60: دُوْنِ

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

Dear student of the Noble Quran,

It gives me great pleasure to share with you High Frequency Words from the Quran and its wisdom everyday.

Previously you’ve learned 40 High Frequency Words from the Quran, yesterday’s HFW being (الأَخِرَة) . The HFW you will learn today is repeated for 135 times in the Quran. As of today you’ve learned 41 words from the Quran. Collectively these words are being used for 4158 times in the Quran! MasyaAllah! Let’s continue reading!

Today’s HFW of The Quran can be use as a tool to help us grow our imaan and put Allah at a very special place in our heart!

Today’s HFW is (ِدُوْن) which means “besides/other than”. The context of its usage in arabic language is usually to place something or someone special in an exclulsive place. When we believe and acknowledge that Allah s.w.t. is special and we put Him at a special place in our heart, we will discover that we have a special relationship with Allah. And that special relationship will give birth to a special treatment.

Your 41st High Frequency Word of the Quran:

Aspire list of HFW Number: #60

Transliteration: duuni

Meaning: Besides/ Other than

Meaning in Malay: melainkan

Frequency in the Quran: 135 times

First Mention in Quran: Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 23 (2:23)

Last Mention in Quran: Surah Al-Jinn, Verse 22 (72:22)

Surah Ya Seen, Verse 23 (36:23):

” Should I take other than Him (ِدُوْنِه) [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me? “

This verse teach us believers that we must put Allah s.w.t. at a special place because HE is Most Merciful and Most Compassionate, if something bad is happening no one can save us other than Allah s.w.t., only the shafaat (intercession) of Allah s.w.t. is the best to save us and as such we must put Allah s.w.t. at a special place in our heart, and develop a special relationship with HIM.

On this blessed Friday on the month of Rajab i pray that Allah bless all of us with hidayah to grow our relationship with Allah s.w.t. Ameen.
