BismillahirRahmanirRahim.

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

Dear student of the Noble Quran,

It gives me great pleasure to share with you High Frequency Words from the Quran and its wisdom everyday.

Previously you’ve learned 18 High Frequency Words from the Quran, yesterday’s HFW being (قَوْل). The HFW you will learn today is repeated for 93 times in the Quran. As of today you’ve learned 19 words from the Quran. Collectively these words are being used for 1620 times in the Quran! MasyaAllah! Let’s continue reading!

Today’s HFW of The Quran is quite challenging to explain.

But I will still try my very best to share since it comes with great wisdom. Al-Quran is Source of True Guidance for believers. And there are a lot of mental processes and strategies to influence our own thoughts and emotions.

Your 19th High Frequency Word of the Quran:

Aspire list of HFW Number: #82

هَلْ

Transliteration: Hal

Meaning: Do? Does? Will? Shall?

Meaning in Malay: Adakah?

Frequency in the Quran: 93 times

First Mention in Quran: Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 210 (1:4)

Last Mention in Quran: Surah Al-Fajr, Verse 5 (110:5)

Today’s HFW is (هَلْ) which means “does?/do?/will?shall?”. It is used to ask question, sometimes with the intention to interogate or challenge.

Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 210 (2:210), Allah says:

“Do they await but that Allah should come to them in covers of clouds and the angels [as well] and the matter is [then] decided? And to Allah [all] matters are returned.”

2_210

Sometimes, or rather most of the times, we need to influence or convince our desire or ego to follow the guidance of Allah. More often, the hardest is to let go of negative habit. One way is to use this word and challenge, will this habit benefit me in the long run? Will it serve my greater purpose? Remove it immediately, bit by bit everyday, by constantly asking yourselves to look for positive habits replacing negative ones.

Otherwise, unmotivated, unchallenged, uninfluenced, we will just wait and wait and before we know it, years have gone by and we are still at the same place. Challenging the self is a good way to influence and motivate it.
